Moroccan academic delegation visited our school for discussion and exchange

On the afternoon of December 4, 2023, the Moroccan academic delegation visited our school to engage in discussions on topics related to area studies. The delegation, consisting of five members, was led by Omar Hanich, Vice Chancellor of Scientific Research at Mohammed V University. Other members included Mustapha Machrafi, Vice Dean of the Department of Law, Economics and Social Sciences at Mohammed V University's Sale Campus; Driss Sefiani, Former Head of the Law Department at Mohammed V University's Sarai Campus; Samar Khamlichi, Professor at the African Research Institute of Mohammed V University; and Rachid Houdegui, Professor at Department of Law, Economics, and Social Sciences at Abdelmalek Essaâdi University. The discussion was chaired by Dean Cao Ruonan, with all teachers from our North African research team and graduate students majoring in Country and Area Studies in attendance.

Dean Cao Ruonan extended a warm welcome to the Moroccan delegation and provided a detailed introduction to the overall research profile of our School and the progress made in the field of country and area studies. Vice President Omar Hanich expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the need for a multifaceted approach to studying countries like Morocco, given their diverse cultural backgrounds. He highlighted the importance of language, economy, politics, and culture in gaining a comprehensive understanding of the realities of North African countries, suggesting that in-depth research from multiple perspectives is essential. He also expressed hope for increased academic exchanges with our institutions and mutual student exchange programs to enhance academic standards. Throughout the discussion, other Moroccan experts answered questions from our faculty and students earnestly and recommended some excellent works on Moroccan society and history. The discussion concluded in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Through the exchange with the Moroccan academic delegation, faculty and students in our school gained a deeper understanding of the realities of North African countries and new insights and directions for the development of our disciplines. In the future, our school will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the international academic community, pushing our academic research to higher levels.
