2010 FLTRP Cup English Public Speaking Contest Shaanxi Semifinal came to the end in Xi'an JiaoTong University recently. The 2010 FLTRP Cup English Publish Speaking Contest (former CCTV Cup English Speaking Contest) is hosted by Foreign Languages and Teaching Research Press, with the cooperation of the Advisory Committee on the English Teaching for English Majors and the Advisory Committee on the English Teaching for Non-English Majors, both under the Ministry of Education. Contestants from 44 colleges took part in this year's contest, Gao Tian, a sophomore from English Department, overwhelmingly won the championship of Shaanxi semifinal of the national contest with the tutoring of Xuan Jing.
This contest, which is popular for its authoritative organization, wide range participation and representation, regular process and various forms, is aiming at widening the students' horizon, cultivating students' critical skills and good communicative skills. For many years, the students in NWU have been participating in this contest, and this year is the biggest year, Gao Tian will compete in the Beijing final of the contest on behalf all Shaanxi Colleges.
